John updike writing style
Updike graduated with honors from Harvard University in , where he studied English literature. He also attended a one-year course in painting at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art at Oxford University in England. While at Harvard, Updike served as an editor for the satirical magazine "Lampoon." After returning from England, he worked for two years at The New Yorker magazine, where he began publishing his first stories. He later moved to Ipswich, Massachusetts.
